The Not So Ugly Truth About Fasting

So I just started to fast again using the Master Cleanse system developed by Stanley Burroughs. I tried this successfully about two years ago with excellent results. Now a lot of people hear the word 'fasting' and automatically think it means they have to starve themselves. Let me tell you that is NOT true! I am currently on my fifth day and have lost 10 pounds and several inches. It sounds unbelievable, I know, but when you stop and think about it, the results really aren't that far fetched. First thing you have to look at is all the processed junk you were shoving down your throat. With the absence of all that grease and fat, your body gets a break and finally has time to actually break down the fat you already have stored in your body. Then, you factor in water weight loss.  As you are consuming water in high amounts you really are only losing some weight due to water loss. This particular cleanse flushes out everything your body has stored that is toxic and unhealthy. So that is another factor that will affect your weight over the course of the cleanse.

Oh doesn't that just look so relaxing? I bet it does. Part of the cleanse requires that you take a saltwater bath every morning. INTERNALLY.... Yes, you have to drink it, and not just a little bit either. You have to drink an entire quart in one sitting. Quite a few people will not have 'stomach' for it as it does taste exactly how it sounds. I chose to continue with the saltwater for two reasons: 1) you get quite used to it after the second or third time and, 2) the alternative is double doses of a laxative tea that will keep you from being able to carry out your day-to-day functions.

So really (other than the saltwater part), this fast is an excellent way to lose weight, cleanse your body, and overall great way to feel and look better. The biggest hurdle to get over is convincing yourself that not having cheeseburgers and pizza every day is going to ruin your life.
